Newmont signs long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Collgar Wind Farm



Newmont Corporation (Newmont), through its subsidiary Newmont AP Power Pty Ltd, has entered into a long-term renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Collgar Wind Farm Pty Ltd, committing to purchase 100% of the electricity and green credits generated by Collgar Wind Farm (CWF), effective from 2027 to 2042.

 

This PPA will help support Newmont’s decarbonisation program to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions by end of 2030.

 

The agreement will operate for approximately 15 years, demonstrating a commitment to strategic asset management, innovation and continuous improvement of the wind farm. It also represents a significant milestone in Collgar’s story, recognising operational excellence and strong community engagement creating positive outcomes for its stakeholders.

 

Newmont Boddington General Manager Chris Dark said the agreement reflects Newmont’s commitment to renewable energy.

 

“Newmont is pleased to partner with Collgar Renewables in an offtake agreement from this established, high-quality project,” he said.

 

“The purchase of renewable energy from Collgar will enable Newmont to continue supporting local jobs, investing in community programs and funding vital services for the long term while adopting industry leading sustainability practices.”

Collgar Wind Farm is currently the largest operating wind farm in Western Australia by installed capacity, with a total power generation capacity of 222 megawatts (MW).

Located just outside of Merredin, it sits across 18,000 hectares and is deeply embedded in the community.
